Think You Can Claim For An Accident At Work?

If you have had a work accident and want to make a personal injury compensation claim, our team of expert solicitors are ready to get to work for you on a no-win, no-fee basis.

The first point to be aware of when making a work accident claim is that your employers have a legal obligation to report any sufficiently serious accidents (or situations that could lead to such accidents) to the Health and Safety Executive. Nonetheless, you should ensure that this report has been made. Your employer must make their report in the case of deaths, broken bones, injuries which keep employees off work for three days or more, or if there are e.g. gas leaks, dangerous equipment failure, and other similar situations. They are also obliged to make a note of any injuries whatsoever suffered at the workplace. You will need to gather all the information you can about the accident you suffered, including e.g. whether the emergency services were called, whether there were any previous injuries attributable to the same set of circumstances, and so on. Our solicitors are able to guide you through this process.

The second point to consider is that your work accident claim will involve you giving evidence against your bosses, which is obviously something you may not feel confident about. You should be aware, however, that many employers appreciate that these cases will give them a greater awareness of working safety, and their responsibilities as employers. This in turn leads to less likelihood that they will be claimed against in the future. If you are still uncertain whether to continue with your work accident claim because of doubts about how giving evidence against your employer may affect you, please feel free to discuss the situation with us before you make a final decision.
